I found Wesch's Tedtalk fascinating. Growing up in the world post creation of the world wide Web, I can only imagine what life was like before technology. His discussion of the impacts of new technology on the culture he studied in Papua New Guinea (books) was interesting. I especially appreciated his discussion of the possible hazards or complications of new media. For example, having census books required citizens to pick fixed names for themselves. Months and years later, none of the villagers liked the changes technology had imposed on them. While I am teaching, I need to focus on making sure students learn how to use media rather than letting it use them.
